Walking with God
Jared Poplett of Knoxville, IL, USA

He shall judge between the nations, and shall arbitrate for many peoples; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. -Isaiah 2:4

One night after signing on to Facebook, I read post after post of people wanting prayers of healing. In despair I signed out and went to bed. The next morning, still troubled by this, I went to God in prayer asking why there is so much hurt in his creation instead of love.

In the next moment I saw a young mother holding a newborn baby. I started a prayer of thanksgiving for the peace of a mother loving her baby in the midst of what can be a cruel world.

This is how it is as we walk with God. When we let him hold us in his loving arms we can find the peace and love that we need.

Prayer Phrase

I am about to do a new thing, now it springs forth… (Isaiah 43:19).

Spiritual Practice

A New Thing

Breathe deeply and listen within. Where is the Spirit doing a new thing in you? How do you feel about the new thing that might be emerging? Are you excited, resistant, fearful, hopeful? Take whatever you are experiencing to prayer. Breathe deeply and listen around you. Where is the Spirit doing a new thing in your community? Pay attention to how it feels to discern the Spirit’s activity and presence within and around you.
