Car Trouble
Joy Leasure of Wellsburg, WV, USA

Hear, O my people of the church, I am Jesus Christ of whom you have sung and testified and in whose name you pray. I am the spirit of love and peace which is in the world and yet not known by the world. I have heard your prayers which have been raised to me without ceasing, and I have sent my healing ministry as a dove to be in your midst. Therefore, lift up your hearts and rejoice in the promises which have been given for your assurance. Have I not said it is the Father\’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom? -Doctrine and Covenants 157:11-12

I was so excited! My 15-year-old great-grandson was going to the International Youth Forum and SPECTACULAR. For his travel to Missouri and Iowa I was going to have to take him to Columbus, Ohio, about a three-hour trip from home. That meant we would have to leave at 4:30 a.m. for him to catch the bus. For him to see the wonderment and to be a part of this great opportunity made it all worthwhile.

Then it happened. Five days before he was to leave, my car broke down. I was starting to get anxious and stressed. My car had to be towed to the dealership 36 miles away. Conversing with the tow truck driver, I found out my car would be in the hands of a Christian, and I already knew the man in the service department was a good man who has taken care of my two cars over the last 19 years.

I began to be very thankful to God for sending me these people who helped reduce my stress. I was reminded how blessed I am. My car could have broken down on the trip to Columbus, and my great-grandson would have missed the experience of a lifetime. My car was fixed and we left the next morning.

God is good.

Prayer Phrase

“For everything there is a season” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

Spiritual Practice

Seasons of Life

The Christian calendar takes us through many kinds of seasons: religious seasons, seasons in nature, and seasons of the soul. Depending on where you live on this beautiful planet, you may be experiencing the heart of autumn or the hope of spring. A season is a time of transition, reminding us that life occurs in cycles, both inwardly and outwardly. Contemplate what season you find yourself in right now. Maybe you feel called to notice the signs of the shifting earth around you, or perhaps you are drawn to the condition of your soul as you discern what season of life is inviting your attention. How are you formed through all the seasons of life?
