Resurrection
By Barbara Carter, Council of Twelve Apostles
Mark the blameless, and behold the upright, for there is posterity for the peaceable. -Psalm 37:37 NRSV
Leaf falling, leaving the tree naked.
The hint of new color illuminating tree branches.
A sphere of dandelion seeds blowing through the air.
Yellow flowers peeking up in unexpected places.
Squash left in the vegetable garden, unharvested.
A curly vine, growing rapidly in warm, spring soil.
Words spoken in haste, piercing the tender soul.
Words intently whispered, salve to the wound.
A voice loud with anger.
A sigh too deep for words.
The piercing look that buries a voice.
The leaning forward in anticipation of spoken treasures.
A cold heart, beating through pain and sorrow.
A smile, spreading warmth into the dark recesses of the soul.
Shattered faith of what was once held dear.
The sacred story inspires new visions.
A life lived.
Continues in another.
Resurrection.
Prayer Phrase
Spirit, now live in me.
