Together on the Road: A Trilogy (part one)
By Danny Belrose of Independence, MO, USA

Lift up your eyes and fix them on the place beyond the horizon to which you are sent. Journey in trust, assured that the great and marvelous work is for this time and for all time.

Claim your unique and sacred place within the circle of those who call on the name of Jesus Christ. Be faithful to the spirit of the Restoration, mindful that it is a spirit of adventure, openness, and searching. Walk proudly and with a quickened step. Be a joyful people. Laugh and play and sing, embodying the hope and freedom of the gospel. —Doctrine and Covenants 161:2a, b

Whose Journey?

The call of the church is to follow the path of the disciple in which the hand of companionship and community extends without reservation to all seeking a full life. It is a journey of faithfulness and trust in the One who has gone before us.

He who came to set at liberty the bruised and brokenhearted,
those who have wandered aimlessly and alone,
those who have surrendered to voices that have promised joy yet reaped sorrow.

It is a journey in finding all who have not found themselves,
who have failed to find their place nor discovered their gift to bless the created order.

But, it is also a journey in finding oneself,
for we are as incomplete as any who journey with us.

We walk then as a community of the committed,
blending the frailties of humanity with the blessings of divinity.

Jesus invites us to travel, having no credentials
but the sin we continually lay at his feet.

Prayer for Peace

Divine One, we have many deeds, misunderstandings, and aimless wanderings to lay at your feet. We praise you for your forgiveness and the Christ who bears a broken heart for us.

Spiritual Practice: Invite People to Christ

Read and reflect on Doctrine and Covenants 162:3b and 163:2b. Pray to be aware of people who might be receptive, and therefore blessed, by your sharing of the message of the Living Christ. Imagine being in a relationship with them and inviting them to Christ. In preparation, discover your personal testimony of Christ. “Be persistent in your witness and diligent in your mission to the world.” Repeat this phrase throughout the day: “Christ’s mission, our mission, my mission.”

Peace Covenant

Today, God, I will atone for my silent complicity by raising my voice for justice.
