Baptism of Love
By Ed Salahub of Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, Canada
It is imperative to understand that when you are truly baptized into Christ you become part of a new creation. By taking on the life and mind of Christ, you increasingly view yourselves and others from a changed perspective. Former ways of defining people by economic status, social class, sex, gender, or ethnicity no longer are primary. Through the gospel of Christ a new community of tolerance, reconciliation, unity in diversity, and love is being born as a visible sign of the coming reign of God. —Doctrine and Covenants 164:5
Freedom from sin
power to serve
receiving God’s grace
not what we deserve
baptism of love
Washed white as snow
rescued from strife
living in peace
raised to new life
baptism of love
Love fills the heart
Christ fills the soul
blessed, redeemed,
reborn, made whole
baptism of love
A citizen now
peaceful kingdom to come
all believers in God
together as one
baptism of love
Prayer for Peace
Forgiving God, we would give our lives to Christ and commit to your peaceable kingdom.
Spiritual Practice: Invite People to Christ
Read and reflect on Doctrine and Covenants 162:3b and 163:2b. Pray to be aware of people who might be receptive, and therefore blessed, by your sharing of the message of the Living Christ. Imagine being in relationship with them and inviting them to Christ. In preparation, discover your personal testimony of Christ. “Be persistent in your witness and diligent in your mission to the world.” Repeat this phrase throughout the day: “Christ’s mission, our mission, my mission.”

Today, God, I will let love be my compass and grace be my guide.
