Unending Questions

Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him. -Psalm 37:7a
As a mother of a seven-year-old child on the autism spectrum, I face many challenges each day. How do I teach faith in a way that he would understand? How do I teach the concept of doubles in mathematics? How do I teach him to be kind to his little sister? My questions are endless. Regardless of what our individual challenges are, I believe each day has enough trouble on its own for every one of us (Matthew 6:34).
God has indeed put several people on our paths to help us out in our journey of life. Nevertheless, if we were to give them a call every time we needed wisdom or direction, we would completely wear them out.
Perhaps in the passage where Jesus gently chides Martha, it was one such chaotic day. While Martha was looking for a helping hand from Mary, Jesus helped her to see that what she needed was not a sister’s help but the master’s wisdom to handle the challenges of the day.
“Happy is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors” (Proverbs 8:34). In our quiet times with the Lord where we sit at the feet of Jesus, we find wisdom and direction for each new day. God is faithful to visit us every morning when we choose God first before everything else.
May we not try to gather extra manna, having no trust in our heavenly father. Our God, who was faithful to guide us yesterday, will be faithful to guide us today and tomorrow as well.
Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All of my blessings thy hand hath provided-
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.
