By His Grace We Live
Rajini Shankar of Suva, Fiji

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.
     He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters;
     he restores my soul.
He leads me in right paths
    for his name’s sake. -Psalm 23:1-3

My journey of life and ministry started after my baptism.

My life is so beautiful in Community of Christ and with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is now 27 years I have been a part of this community and my Lord. My journey has been filled with joy, love, peace, and hope, even though there are trials in life. I am not afraid. I may cry to the Lord, but I am never afraid.

My Lord has promised to be with me always. He will never leave or forsake me. His peace is with me all the time, especially during difficult moments. His peace helps me to deal with the trials of life.

I want to invite us to let God’s presence move freely in us and allow the light of our Lord Jesus Christ to shine in us wherever we go-in our word, action, and deeds. As Jesus said, “Go and do the same as I did.” We truly worship and praise a living God.

My prayer is “Father, make us to be connected with your son Jesus Christ each day of our lives. By his grace we live. Amen.”

Prayer Phrase

“Awake, my soul!” (Psalm 57:8 NRSV)

Spiritual Practice

The Prayer of the Heart

Early Christian disciples desired to take seriously the scripture mandate to pray “without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). The prayer of the heart invites us to pray “continuously” by repeating and returning to a prayer phrase planted for intentional reflection and deepening. Choose a word or phrase (from scripture, hymnody, or personal reflection) that has meaning for you. The Jesus Prayer is one form of the prayer of the heart: “Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me” (Luke 18:35-43). Invite this simple phrase to repeat in your heart throughout the day, awakening your soul to God’s presence.
