Praise
Katie Harmon-McLaughlin of Independence, MO, USA

The Lord will guide you continually,
and satisfy your needs in parched places,
and make your bones strong;
and you shall be like a watered garden,
like a spring of water,
whose waters never fail.
12 Your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt;
you shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
you shall be called the repairer of the breach,
the restorer of streets to live in. -Isaiah 58:11-12
Everything in me
comes alive
As I listen to
Bird song drifting
Along morning breeze
And gaze upon
Buds gently breaking open
Into blossoms of promise.
All these branches
Of newborn leaves
a mighty chorus
As wind rushes through.
I exhale.
It is a relief to watch
Life happen
That I do not control.
I sip coffee and send gratitude
To the old trees with deep roots
That gift me with breath and
I feel unfathomably rich
In the simplicity of all that is
Here, now.
Less striving,
More contentment-
Is my desire-
Less clinging,
More beholding.
I am finally beginning to understand
The meaning of the word
Praise.
Prayer Phrase
The kingdom of God is among you (Luke 17:21).
Spiritual Practice
Ordinary Time is a season for waking up to what is already here, to the kingdom of God already among us. Spend time each day breathing in the presence of God wherever you are. Notice how simple interactions, tasks, and relationships are sacred opportunities to share and receive God’s love, justice, and peace. Pay attention to the sacred quality of everyday, ordinary life. How is the kingdom of God seeking to be embodied through you each day?
